DIY Mini Planter Boxes

Mini Planter Boxes

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

The first step in creating mini planter boxes is to gather all of the necessary supplies. You will need:

  • Wood boards (1/4 inch thick)
  • Saw
  • Sandpaper (80 grit and 120 grit)
  • Wood glue
  • Clamps
  • Paint or stain (optional)
  • Paintbrush (optional)

Step 2: Cut the Wood Boards

Using a saw, cut the wood boards to the desired size for your mini planter box. The standard size for a mini planter box is 4 inches by 4 inches. You will need to cut four pieces for each box: two sides, a bottom, and a top.

Step 3: Sand the Edges

After cutting the wood boards, use sandpaper (80 grit and 120 grit) to sand the edges of each piece. This will help to remove any rough edges or splinters and make the pieces smoother and easier to work with.

Step 4: Assemble the Box

Apply a small amount of wood glue to the edge of one of the side pieces and attach it to one of the top pieces, making sure the edges are flush. Use a clamp to hold the pieces together while the glue dries. Repeat this process with the other side and top pieces. Once both sides are dry, attach them together with the bottom piece using wood glue and clamps.

Step 5: Add the Bottom

After the glue has dried, add the bottom piece to the planter box using wood glue and clamps. This will create a solid base for your mini planter box and prevent soil from falling out of the bottom.

Step 6: Paint or Stain (Optional)

If desired, you can paint or stain your mini planter box to match your decor or personal style. Use a paintbrush to apply the paint or stain in even strokes and let it dry completely before using the planter box.
